JOB DESCRIPTION:

A. Purpose and Scope

The Controller is a key member of the leadership team. This position is responsible for all accounting, driving the planning processes, providing insightful management and investor reporting, corporate compliance and risk management.

B. Responsibilities
• Provide insightful and timely financial reporting to operating management, including department spend against plan, and kpi dashboards
• Manage accounting close process and resulting reporting to leadership, board directors and major investors within format and timing requirements
• Manage 1-2 employees
• Establish and maintain effective accounting systems and financial controls in preparation for scaling revenue and inventory management
• Responsible for accounts payable using Bill.com, revenue recognition, inventory accounting
• Manage audit and tax timelines and coordinate support required
• Drive the annual operating budgeting with the CFO
• Maintain a periodic forecasting process with the CFO.
• Monitor and manage cash runway with the CFO and VP Corporate Operations
• Responsible for equity administration, reporting, and compliance using Carta
• Sunshine Act reporting when appropriate
• Perform other related duties as required

C. Organizational Relationships

• This position reports to the CFO

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A. Education

• Bachelors or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• MBA, nice to have, but not necessary

B. Technical Requirements
• 5+ years of progressive experience in a life sciences company
• Current US GAAP knowledge
• Previous experience accounting for inventory
• Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and influence your peers
• Ability to create and maintain strong relationships across cross-functional and geographically distributed teams
• Previous experience in equity administration preferred
• Adept at learning new technologies and embracing saas tools in accounting
• ERP system implementation experience preferred
• Excellent presentation, oral and written skills

C. Managerial Experience

Minimum of 3 years prior managerial experience.
